- ➤ Frankfort city and county leaders thanked FEMA & state officials for approving public assistance to rebuild after the April flooding and May tornadoes. Officials estimate a couple million dollars in aid will help cover costs from debris removal, emergency measures, and rebuilding public facilities. LEX 18
- ➤ After months of cleanup from severe flooding in April and tornadoes in May, Franklin County will receive $56 million in federal aid expected to cover about 75% of rebuilding costs for 514 homes—Judge Executive Michael Mueller said FEMA helped speed recovery, and Governor Beshear said his office will provide more details soon. - ➤ Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman urged the NCAA to restore women athletes’ records and titles because he said policies allowed biological males to compete and erase awards earned by women—he cited University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines and said his role as a father drove him to fight for fairness in sports.
