According to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, unemployment rates rose in 116 counties in June compared to last year.
Woodford County recorded the lowest rate (4.5) while Martin County saw the highest at 10.6.
🌲 Environment
Kentucky's tornado record since 1950 shows a steep rise in storm activity with nearly 35 tornadoes per year since 2000, including the deadly May 16, 2025 EF4 tornado and 36 tornadoes so far in 2026; experts say better detection and a longer season are partly to blame.
A one-week burst of rain eased drought conditions statewide, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor report issued Thursday, and local water supplies could improve if further rain holds.
