  • GE Appliances is shifting production of refrigerators, gas ranges and water heaters from China and Mexico to plants in Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina as part of a $3 billion investment—expected to add more than 1,000 jobs over the next five years.  Louisville Public Media

  • FCPS welcomed students back to class today as summer break ended—classes officially began with students returning to school.  WKYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Beshear ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff today to honor Kentucky soldier Rodger E. Fields, whose remains were identified in May after he died in the Korean War on Dec. 1. He will be interred at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery South East in Hyden today—this act honors his service.  LEX 18
  • The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources recognized over 30 employees for outstanding 2024 service at an awards luncheon on July 22 at the Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm in Frankfort. Adair County Game Warden Keith Young received the Kentucky Game Warden Life Saving Award for his lifesaving act + he has served for five and a half years.  92.7 The Wave
  • Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman was elected chair-elect of the National Lieutenant Governors Association Executive Committee in Lake Tahoe, Nev.—She will serve until the next meeting when she becomes chair and works with other officials to improve state governance.  Kentucky Today

  • The Kentucky Realtors Relief Foundation distributed over $343,000 in funds to 489 families for one month of housing expenses up to $1,000 per household—following state emergency declarations on Feb. 14th, April 2nd, and May 16th due to severe weather earlier this year.  Kentucky Today
