Kentucky’s unemployment rate stayed at 4.9% in July, unchanged from June yet 0.2% lower than last year—employment and job seeker numbers fell slightly while nonfarm jobs grew by 1,200.
The data come from the Kentucky Center for Statistics and the U.S. Department of Labor.
🏛️ Government
Attorney General Russell Coleman announced Thursday that a Kentucky Court of Appeals ruling kept about 175 violent criminals in jail until they served at least 85 percent of their sentences—upholding the Safer Kentucky Act as a measure to protect families.
His office will continue to defend the law while the court considers a procedural issue.
