- ➤ A shooting occurred on KSU campus near Young Hall Sunday morning at 2:30 a.m. where two people were hurt, one with serious injuries + the campus was locked down until 9 a.m. while university leaders and police increased security by requiring IDs and boosting patrols amid reported property damage. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ An analysis by the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy found that a full-time worker earning the state’s minimum wage of $7.25 now lives below the poverty line — policy director Dustin Pugel said the rate has lost about 50% of its buying power since 2009. Sen. Reginald Thomas has proposed a bill to raise wages to $15 over four years — though the effort has not gained enough support in the legislature. Louisville Public Media

Andy Beshear said production began at BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale—Kentucky's largest economic investment in state history—boosting job growth as 1,450 positions have been filled with plans for 5,000; this milestone follows a $5.8 billion partnership announced in September 2021 that spurred further EV investments such as a nearly $2 billion project at the Louisville Assembly Plant. - ➤ During today's meeting of Governor Beshear's Pre-K for All Advisory Committee, Rep. Jeana Ross from Alabama said early childhood education builds strong brain development and improves future opportunities while expert Steven Barnett stressed that pre-K can boost learning, health and overall success. Governor Beshear added that town halls in Bowling Green, Morehead, Frankfort and northern areas plus over 22,000 emails have increased backing for funding pre-K for every 4-year-old, and lawmakers will decide this in the January state budget session—leaving a final chance to expand access.
