- ➤ Kentucky’s equine industry is facing staffing shortages after immigration raids in Louisiana in June made many immigrant workers too afraid to work—trainers and farm supervisors report that fewer workers are arriving for essential duties at racetracks and farms. - ➤ The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding eligible private nonprofit organizations in 90 Kentucky counties to apply for disaster loans by Sept. 22 to offset losses from storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that occurred from April 2 to May 16—these loans allow borrowing up to $2 million at a low interest rate for repairs or operating expenses.
