- ➤ Kentucky veterans from across the state traveled with Honor Flight Kentucky on Saturday morning to visit memorials in Washington DC — 65 service members and their families reconnected with their military history and shared camaraderie during the visit. WKYT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky Department of Education today launched the 'You Belong. Attendance Matters' campaign to stress that missing school can stop students from learning and connecting with their community. The campaign defines chronic absenteeism as missing 10 percent of school days and will run ads on streaming services, websites and public transportation while providing guidance online—this effort aims to support student success. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Andy Beshear said on Monday that applications for more than $2 million in federal funding for domestic violence victims are now open. The funds are provided through the Violence Against Women Act and must be submitted online by Sept. 26 at 6:00 p.m. LEX 18
- ➤ Kentucky State Police are checking trucks and buses for bad brakes during Brake Safety Week through August 30, and they say problems with drums and rotors may make stopping harder—keeping highways safe. WTVQ
