The Kentucky Blood Center will host a blood drive on Sept.
9 from 8 a.m. to noon in the Narthex Room at Memorial Baptist Church (130 Holmes St), where donors can receive a 'Grab a Slice of Saving Lives' T-shirt while supplies last.
The Kentucky Department for Public Health confirmed 29 measles cases in unvaccinated residents across counties including Christian, Jessamine, and Washington, and health officials are urging residents to check vaccination status as efforts to contain the outbreak continue.

Franklin County’s girls golf team finished second at the LaRue County Lady Hawks Classic on Aug.15 and third at the Barren County Trojanettes Invitational on Aug.22, with key players setting personal records; they will compete in the Marcus Camacho Classic Saturday at Eagle Creek Country Club in Dry Ridge.
Franklin County’s boys golf team beat Frankfort at Juniper Hill on Monday to improve to 5 — 1 in conference play; top players tied their scores as Josh Tandy won medalist honors in a playoff.
Franklin County’s boys middle school golf team finished second at the Kentucky Junior Cup Saturday at Geldhof Academy Short Course (par 27) in Lexington, losing by two shots to Sayre.
Standout players including Sutton Stewart posted strong scores as seventh-grader Cason Taylor set a personal best.
