EDUCATION NEWS

  • Frankfort High restarted its FBLA chapter last school year and three students qualified to attend the national conference in Anaheim last summer—earning praise from their adviser for stepping up in word processing and journalism. The effort marks a strong start for the club as it builds students’ business skills.  The State Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • University of Louisville neurosurgeon Dr. Akshitkumar Mistry built an atlas of brain tumors that holds data on more than 7,000 cases to help researchers find treatment patterns. The state helped pay for the project—scientists from Texas and California have already shown interest in using the new data.  Louisville Public Media
  • Morning Pointe of Frankfort Assisted Living earned a perfect 100% on its recent kitchen inspection by the Franklin County Health Department—this final 2025 review focused on kitchen and dining services showed the facility met the same rigorous food safety standards as local restaurants.  The State Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kentucky State rallied with strong second-half plays to beat rival Central State 34-24 in the Detroit Football Classic at Ford Field on Saturday—quarterbacks Denim Johnson and Torrence Bardell combined for 302 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Thorobreds will return home to host league foe Albany State on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.  The State Journal
  • Western Hills football lost 44-13 to East Jessamine Friday night with quarterback Nicholai Kendall going 8-of-12 for 151 yards and one touchdown. Frankfort’s team fell 48-0 to Moore in Louisville Friday, and both teams (Western Hills will face Henry County and Frankfort will host Williamsburg this Friday) will prepare for their next games.  The State Journal
