BUSINESS NEWS

  • Gov. Andy Beshear is urging small businesses to apply for a tax credit up to $25,000 by Nov. 1 for a 2025 review—businesses that add a new worker and spend at least $5,000 on equipment or technology may qualify.  Kentucky Today

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce said that lowering *childcare* costs could help more parents join the workforce and boost the state economy. Their report found that a $500 monthly cut could add 16,000 to 28,000 workers and generate up to one billion dollars in new wages while urging lawmakers to improve access to affordable care.  Louisville Public Media

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Researchers at the University of Kentucky are testing seismic sensors—normally used for earthquakes—to detect when tornadoes touch down and to gauge their strength. They plan to upgrade stations across the region and study data from December 2021 and a recent deadly tornado in eastern Kentucky.  Louisville Public Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three Frankfort residents Holly Vincent, Kim Satterwhite and Michael Ghant will coach Team Kentucky at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis—Vincent will serve as Head of Delegation, Satterwhite as Assistant Head, and Ghant will coach the bowlers as the team prepares with experienced staff for the tournament.  The State Journal
  • Kyle Macy—a beloved UK basketball player—will meet fans and sign copies of his book 'From the Rafters of Rupp' at Paul Sawyier Public Library in Frankfort at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30; he will share stories from his career during his multi-city tour across Kentucky.  The State Journal
