  • Capital City Activity Center is offering a week of free programs for seniors from today until Friday, featuring events such as billiards, exercise classes with Carla and Karen, and a Wednesday vaccination clinic at the VFW Auxiliary Building—sessions like Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, and Matter of Balance give residents more ways to stay active.  The State Journal

  • A reader asked if short-term rentals near schools in Frankfort were checked to prevent housing registered sex offenders, noting that Kentucky law bans offenders from living within 1,000 feet of schools—Airbnb conducts limited background checks and advises users to research further for safety.  The State Journal

  • Kentucky State graduate student Santosh Rajbanshi was named the 2025 recipient of the KentuckyView Graduate Fellowship Award — the statewide honor recognizes his promise in geospatial scholarship and service. He is pursuing his M.S. in Environmental Studies under the mentorship of Dr. Maheteme Gebremedhin and will receive a $500 award as support for his research on soil restoration and land use change.  The State Journal

  • A local suicide attempt survivor shared how she turned pain into purpose after her experience last night. She explained that her journey toward recovery shows that change is possible when facing deep struggles.  WKYT

  • Albany State pulled away late to beat Kentucky State 49-21 at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon after a tied first half; quarterback Isaiah Knowles led the Thorobreds with six touchdown passes while Kentucky State finished with only 308 total yards.  The State Journal
