📰 Economy
Penny Peavler announced that Franklin County will deposit $500,000 before Sept 12 to fund land acquisition for a proposed industrial park along U.S. 127 South on the county line.
She said options on 175 acres will be executed by Sept 30 and utilities from Anderson County, Bluegrass Energy, and the Frankfort Plant Board will support the project—marking the first step of a long-term effort to boost jobs.
🎓 Education
Education supporters are urging lawmakers to add $718 million to next year's state school budget—this boost would give each student $1,161 and help schools meet rising costs.
They say the extra funds will help pay for items like Chromebooks and buses.
🏛️ Government
Gov. Beshear certified six more counties—Boyd, Carter, Clay, Greenup, Letcher and Owsley—as Recovery Ready Communities to help people get treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.
This move now covers 31 counties and will help over 1.7 million Kentuckians get help and lower overdose deaths.
