  • Witches Night Out will take place downtown on Friday, Oct. 10 from 6:30 to 10 p.m.—sponsored by Community Trust Bank and the Capital City Museum, the event offers a sip and shop celebration with a chance for a visitor to be crowned the Leestown Witch.  The State Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • The hiking trails at the Tom Dorman Nature Preserve are closed due to an ongoing investigation by the Garrard County Sheriff's Office — officials say there is no public threat.  LEX 18

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Powell County EMS worker and judge-executive will appear before KBEMS Tuesday morning in Frankfort after they administered anti-venom to a snake bite victim outside their authorized training—an expert explained that only wilderness paramedics have the proper training for this care.  WKYT
