- ➤ Georgia Gilbert is a second grader at Second Street School who was named the WesBanco Student of the Week yesterday—her teacher Cindy Bramble said she works hard and is always ready to learn. The State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear announced $7.75 million for 17 critical bridge projects under the County and City Bridge Improvement Program to fix or replace bridges that are closed or have weight limits—KYTC engineers reviewed the projects to ensure safety and ease of travel. Kentucky Today
- ➤ The Kentucky Public Service Commission approved Duke Energy’s rate adjustment order yesterday that increased the residential energy charge from $0.111639 to $0.122399 per kWh and raised the average bill by about $12.51 while producing an annual revenue increase of $43,692,476. The order also changed commercial time-of-day rate terms (with a 40 MW minimum demand provision) to keep future costs off current customers. Kentucky Today

- ➤ Western Hills girls volleyball team celebrated Pink Night on Thursday with a 3-0 win over Frankfort—junior Mallory Fint reached her 1,000th assist as the team raised funds for cancer support. The win ended a two-game losing streak and the team will resume play after fall break next week. The State Journal
