- ➤ A local dealership fixed a teen’s car for free after it stopped running—helping the young driver avoid repair costs. WKYT
- ➤ Morning Pointe of Frankfort Assisted Living and The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence will host a Fall Festival on Oct. 23 from 5-7 p.m. featuring local vendors, live music, games, a petting zoo, contests and a bounce house – admission is $5 per person or $20 per family and proceeds will support community programs. - ➤ The Voices Raised For Voting Rights event will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, from 2-4 p.m. at Thorn Hill Education Center at 700 Leslie Ave where music, arts and community activities will share stories and support voting rights restoration to help reduce recidivism. Participants must bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Franklin County Emergency Community Food Pantry (sponsored by Kentuckians For The Commonwealth and local groups). The State Journal
- ➤ The Paul Sawyier Public Library offers a busy week of free programs starting today with a live performance at 2 p.m. and events including a typing club, a flu shot clinic, science experiments, reptile shows, an airport tour and a heritage lecture running through Oct. 11—some events require online registration while others welcome walk-ins. - ➤ The Capital City Activity Center offers a busy week of events — from billiards and bingo with Renda on Monday to chair volleyball, a vaccination clinic, and creative classes through Friday. A Cornhole Tourney will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 at Lakeview Park to benefit Meals on Wheels Greater Frankfort. The State Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Frankfort's Grand Theatre opened the Stewart Gallery to honor the long-standing Stewart family after a Tuesday ceremony with remarks, an unveiling, and a reception. The gallery features the Atmospheric exhibit with photographs by Tom Baril and Mark Cornelison and is open on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (appointments are available). The State Journal
- ➤ Rev. Ron Moore Jr. from First Corinthian Baptist Church shared a story of a childhood walk when he and his friends threw a brick that broke a large hornet’s nest, prompting swarms of angry hornets and a mix of fear and awe. He linked that memory to his belief that praise—simple singing and thanksgiving to God—can bring help during hard times. The State Journal

- ➤ Kentucky lost their 8th straight SEC game after a 35+14 loss to Georgia on Saturday in Athens; the Wildcats struggled in the second half despite a decent first half. Cutter Boley threw two touchdowns plus one interception while Kendrick Law made six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown, and Kentucky will host Texas on October 18th. WTVQ
