  • Kentucky State University is celebrating 139 years during Homecoming Week by hosting events that include a parade on Saturday at 10 a.m. on Capitol grounds — with route adjustments for safety — and a football game at Alumni Stadium with kickoff at 2 p.m.  The State Journal

  • Anna Johnson—known as Granny at Frankfort’s Walmart—has worked 26 years and shows no plans to retire as she nears her 83rd birthday. She works Monday through Wednesday from 12:15–9:15 and continues to manage fitting rooms after a recent slowdown from illness.  The State Journal

  • On Friday, Bourbon Street on Broadway was held in downtown Frankfort — a free family-friendly celebration — that featured street performers such as aerialists, fire eaters, human statues and live musicians.  The State Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Week 7 prep football games delivered close scores—Highlands edged Covington Catholic 31-28, Lloyd Memorial beat Bourbon County 22-20, and Cooper defeated Dixie Heights 42-13, with standout performances from Cam O’Hara, who passed 10,000 yards, and Keagan Maher, who set a new rushing mark. Other contests saw Holy Cross shut out Frankfort 39-0 and district wins for St. Henry, Ludlow, and Newport Central Catholic.  LINK nky
