COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Octoberfest will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 in the 300 block of East Third Street—featuring art, food, antiques—and novelties.  The State Journal
  • The Capital City Activity Center will host a week of activities from Monday, Oct 13th through Friday, Oct 17th, featuring daily billiards from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Bingo with Carla on Monday and Friday at 10 a.m., Tai Chi for Arthritis sessions at 1 p.m., and other classes like chair volleyball, knitting, and technology 101. Participants can register by calling the Franklin County Extension Office or signing up with event leaders — the program aims to keep everyone active and engaged throughout the week.  The State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Lovin’ Spoonful will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at the Grand Theatre in downtown Frankfort — a historic venue that was restored after a $5 million renovation. The band, known for hits such as 'Do You Believe in Magic,' features original folk music members and offers limited premium tickets.  The State Journal
  • Today, the Paul Sawyier Public Library hosts a gallery talk by photographer Andrew West on his ‘Veins of Light’ exhibit from the Louisville Photo Biennial—events this week also include pumpkin puzzles for young students on Monday, a caregiver discussion and a cemetery tour on Tuesday, Pokémon play and yoga on Wednesday, teen anime and book discussions on Thursday, and an RPG demo day on Saturday at 1 p.m.  The State Journal
  • Rev. Ron Moore Jr. of First Corinthian Baptist Church in Frankfort said that giving God serious, genuine time is key for nurturing strong relationships and finding peace. He urged busy individuals to set aside dedicated minutes for prayer and meditation—vital for managing daily challenges.  The State Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Members of the Parkinson’s Support Group will meet on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at First Christian Church (316 Ann St.) to share, view videos about Parkinson’s treatments, and enjoy snacks; attendees are asked to use the entrance facing Broadway Street.  The State Journal
