- ➤ The 10th annual Frankfort Frosty 5K will take place on Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Farm Bureau Pavilion at Lakeview Park (118 Park Ave.) with the free Little Frosty Dash beginning at 1:40 p.m. and will offer family fun with choral groups, musicians, visits from Santa and Frosty, custom-painted awards, long-sleeve T-shirts, and hot chocolate to benefit Ecumenical Honduran Medical/Dental Mission, Water By Women, and Mission Frankfort Clinic. - ➤ State transportation officials issued the annual Antler Alert as deer activity increases during the rut later this month—2024 data shows 3,406 highway collisions with deer, including six fatalities, and drivers are urged to slow down and keep headlights on during low-light periods. 92.7 The Wave
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky Utilities has requested an 11.5% rate hike that could add about $18 to the monthly bills for over half a million local customers—state regulators will decide by March 30 whether to approve the increase, which is expected to generate an extra $226 million a year to cover rising costs and necessary system upgrades while some residents worry about budget strains during colder months. - ➤ The City of Frankfort is reintroducing curbside recycling on an every-other-week basis starting Monday, Oct. 27 after a recycling center fire over a year ago led to extensive repairs at the Rouse Avenue facility. Residents will soon get an informational mailer + details on the FrankWaste app to prepare for the return of recycling services. The State Journal

- ➤ Frankfort High soccer senior Stephane Bebe was named tournament MVP and Traditional Bank Athlete of the Week after the Panthers won the 41st District tournament by beating Great Crossing 1 to 0 on Tuesday, October 14. Bebe, who had 13 goals and 8 assists heading into Monday's regional game, plans to continue playing soccer and pursue a career in medicine — a role that shows his versatile impact on the field — as he readies for graduation. - ➤ Franklin County’s football team improved to an 8-0 record after a 63-0 win at Grant—scoring nine touchdowns and holding their opponents to minus-29 yards of offense. They will wrap up district play Friday at home against Western Hills. The State Journal
- ➤ Kentucky State won 42-14 against Edward Waters on Saturday afternoon during their homecoming game at Alumni Stadium. Freshman Chad Elzy Jr. rushed for 154 yards with three touchdowns (the team will face Franklin Pierce on Friday at 7 p.m.). The State Journal
