CRIME NEWS

  • Residents near a building adjacent to a local school have raised concerns over alleged code violations + drug activity on the property, and local officials will soon review the complaints to determine proper action.  WKYT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky students in the class of 2025 earned an average composite ACT score of 18.4 with 77 achieving a perfect 36, which ranks the state fourth among those testing every student — the number of test takers increased to 52,946 (up 3.8 percent from last year) as the department prepares to switch to using the SAT for juniors next spring.  Kentucky Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky's fall colors are less bright this season because trees did not get enough rain in August, causing early leaf drop and fewer sugars for vibrant hues—UK horticulture expert Carrie Spry said peak color will likely appear by late October.  WKYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Budget Director John Hicks reported that the state's General Fund receipts fell 1.5 percent in September to $1,504.5 million—a drop of $22.6 million from last year. He said the official revenue estimate for this fiscal year calls for a further 2.3 percent decline and that revised figures will be discussed on Dec. 16.  Kentucky Today
  • The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is holding a public meeting on replacing Frankfort’s historic Singing Bridge at Paul Sawyier Public Library on Nov. 12 from 5-7 p.m.—local residents can view design exhibits and ask questions. Written comment forms will be accepted until Dec. 12 (additional materials will be available at the KYTC District 5 Office).  Kentucky Today
