EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts is accepting applications for its tuition free summer program at Northern Kentucky University from June 7 to 27; only Kentucky high school sophomores and juniors can apply (applications are due by Jan. 18 at 11:59 p.m. ET).  WKYT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kentuckians who use the state’s Kynect plan will face premium increases of 60% to over 600% next year as insurance companies raise rates and a federal tax credit ends—open enrollment starts November 1.  Louisville Public Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • Franklin County and Western Hills started the bowling season at Capital Bowl with two new events — on October 18 they held a unified event with bowlers from Stewart Home & School and on Saturday they hosted a cross-county clash where Franklin County earned first place — and coaches said the contests helped students prepare for tougher tournaments later in the season.  The State Journal
