- ➤ SNAP benefits are set to pause at midnight, impacting an estimated 600,000 residents, and a Kentucky T-shirt campaign has raised over 58,000 meals in less than 24 hours. - ➤ Frankfort’s Bourbon Tango, led by Clay Marshall and Cherie Lanier with 40 years of experience, launched a six-week tango session at the Kentucky Dance Academy that began on Oct. 17. The remaining classes are scheduled for Nov. 7, 14, 21 and Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. with a cost of $120 for an individual or $220 for a couple—residents can join at a prorated rate even after the session started. - ➤ Team Kentucky's bipartisan Pre-K for All Advisory Committee released its report on Oct 30 calling for an expansion of preschool for all 4-year-olds to help more kids be ready for kindergarten. - ➤ Karen Clay in Lexington has seen her SNAP benefits become uncertain amid the federal government shutdown — leaving her and 600,000 Kentuckians worried about running out of food. Her family has cut back on spending and changed their eating habits as they wait for government action. WKYT
- ➤ Governor Beshear said nearly 600,000 Kentuckians, including children, are impacted by the SNAP benefit suspension that takes effect today. Team Kentucky is hosting a food drive and placing boxes in Frankfort state office lobbies and the L&N Building in Louisville from October 30 to November 21 to collect non-perishable food for established charities such as Dare to Care + God's Pantry + Christian Appalachian Project.
