- ➤ Fred Anderson, a volunteer with the Friends of PSPL, was named Outstanding State Volunteer Friend of the Year on November 1 by state library leaders. He sorted thousands of donated books and built new shelving after a local flood, showing his dedication to the library. The State Journal
- ➤ Capital City Activity Center will host a full week of activities Nov. 3-7 including bingo with Carla, exercise sessions with Karen, sign language lessons, knitting classes and a vaccination clinic at Anderson County Senior Center — events designed to boost strength, balance and social connection — giving community members plenty of chances to stay active. - ➤ Rev. Ron Moore Jr. of First Corinthian Baptist Church in Frankfort published the third part of his 'Relationship Goals' series on November 1 at 3:00 p.m., sharing how his life changed from a focus on money and partying to a search for strength and hope through Jesus (using Biblical passages to illustrate his transformation). - ➤ The Kentucky State University Generations Jazz Ensemble performed yesterday at the Equinox Jazz Festival in Frankfort—mixing spirituals, gospel, blues and modern jazz to honor African American traditions. Led by Dr. Keith McCutchen, the 18-member group earned high praise for their moving set and proved that top-notch jazz can thrive in our community. The State Journal

- ➤ The Paul Sawyier Public Library in Frankfort is offering a busy week of free events for families and adults, including Pinecone Pets and Seed and Bean Flower Bouquets on Monday, career services and a marbled leaves workshop on Tuesday, an arts and crafts session and yoga on Wednesday, and a heritage lecture on Saturday about slavery in Kentucky. - ➤ Martha Layne Collins, Kentucky’s only woman governor, died peacefully at 3 a.m. Saturday in Lexington—she was 88—and her husband said she lived a long life marked by bringing Toyota to Georgetown and reforming education.
