- ➤ Hermalyn Manglona became the new owner of Completely Kentucky in downtown Frankfort after taking over from founder Ann Wingrove, who started the store in 1990—Manglona said she will add new work from local artists for the holidays and expand the website for out-of-town customers. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Remove Invasives Partnership will host a work party at East Frankfort Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon where volunteers will learn to identify and remove non-native invasive plants such as bush honeysuckle—bring gloves and closed-toe shoes—while efforts aim to boost local park biodiversity. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear announced Tuesday that his administration classified 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) as a Schedule I narcotic to ban its sale, possession, and distribution statewide; law enforcement will soon remove these concentrated forms from shelves to lessen addiction risks. LEX 18
- ➤ The Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Frankfort completed two upgrades last week by adding the name of Vietnam veteran Conrad J. 'Jack' Wheeler and replacing eight concrete piers that support the plaza—ensuring each name is honored on its proper day. It will host a Veterans Day Service on Saturday at 11 a.m. and an Observance on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. for the public to honor Kentucky veterans. The State Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Marshall Pediatric Therapy expanded its intensive therapy option at its Lexington location to help young patients overcome challenges — the program, started in June 2024, has shown gains in skills like sitting for children such as 16‑month‑old John‑Baylor, whose parents reported marked improvements during his final therapy week.
