- ➤ The Bluegrass Writers Coalition Inc. announced judges for the 2026 Kentucky Visions Short Story Contest and is now accepting submissions from writers with Kentucky ties. Richard Taylor (former KY Poet Laureate), Katerina Stoykova, Rick Neumayer, Michael Embry, and Diane Dehoney will review entries for prizes and publication. The State Journal

- ➤ Kentucky students achieved higher reading and math scores during the 2024-2025 school year, with improvements seen at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Education Commissioner Robbie Fletcher said rising school ratings, lower absenteeism and improved graduation rates show the success of recent education programs. LEX 18

- ➤ The Kentucky Department of Agriculture announced a record 10 grants worth $748,793 to help improve local county fairs. Local fair boards will match 25 percent of project costs—each project must start in 90 days and be finished in nine months. Kentucky Today
- ➤ The Kentucky Department of Agriculture awarded a record 10 county fair grants totaling $748,793.13 for construction and renovation projects across several counties. Each grant covers 75 percent of project costs while fair boards supply the remaining 25 percent (projects must start within 90 days and finish within nine months). Kentucky Today
- ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear and KSP are urging residents to donate non-perishable food items for the 'Cram the Cruiser' drive to help local families combat hunger. Troopers at all 16 KSP posts will accept contributions until Dec. 5—ensuring that each post supports its own community. Kentucky Today
