COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Capital City Activity Center offers a busy week of programs from Dec. 8-12 including bingo, exercise classes, craft workshops, and a Christmas Craft Market; daily sessions run 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the center to engage community members of all ages.  The State Journal
  • Cody Burke, a cattle farmer from Franklin County, won first place in the Kentucky Farm Bureau’s 2025 Discussion Meet today and earned a Kubota RTV for his debate skills. He will represent Kentucky at the national competition in January.  The State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Paul Sawyier Public Library offers a full week of events, from Sunday's live holiday music with the Dorian Invasion Trio to Monday’s Family Yarn Trees, Tuesday’s Teen Homeschool Club meeting at Capital City Museum, Wednesday’s PokéClub and Yoga for Beginners, Thursday’s Homeschool Club session, and Saturday’s Selfies with Santa.  The State Journal
  • Frankfort High School drama club will present its 32nd staging of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever beginning Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at Karen Kimmel Hatter Theatre (328 Shelby St), with additional shows on Dec. 12, 13, and a matinee on Dec. 14; admission costs $10 and $5 for students.  The State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Frankfort Chamber of Commerce, with 42 other local chambers, has endorsed Gov. Beshear’s Pre-K for All initiative to expand preschool for 4-year-olds in the upcoming 2026-2027 Budget Session, with business leaders saying early education boosts workforce readiness and helps families.  The State Journal
