  • OneStop, a Cincinnati-built app for booking event vendors, is expanding into Northern Kentucky to boost local business visibility. The app (with 81 vendors and 300 downloads) collaborates with local groups to support community economic growth.  LINK nky

CULTURE NEWS

  • Kentucky Dance Academy is preparing to perform Nutcracker ‘25 at the Grand Theatre with shows on Dec. 12, Dec. 13, Dec. 19, and Dec. 20 in Frankfort. Photographer Kelly Gay captured downtown scenes (featuring dancers Avery Williams, Jaden Downey, and Maddie Harville).  The State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FCPS Stem Academy parents voiced concerns about school practices during recent meetings. School officials plan to review the issues raised and update parents soon (details pending).  WKYT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky Fish+Wildlife Commission expanded its CWD surveillance zone to include Casey, Laurel, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Wayne and Whitley counties after a CWD case in Pulaski was reported in September. The new measures restrict whole carcass transport and ban deer rehabilitation to slow disease spread.  Kentucky Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nearly 40 advocacy groups call on Gov. Beshear to stop winter utility shutoffs due to rising energy costs and government shutdown confusion; they will hold a Leave the Heat On rally at 11 a.m. today on the Capitol's north lawn, urging a moratorium through March 2026.  WTVQ
  • The fiscal court honored the Kentucky United Cricket Club at its Dec. 3 meeting, recognizing three championships and three tournament wins + Judge-Executive Michael Mueller noted the club needs five acres for a training field and highlighted strong graduation rates in county schools.  The State Journal
  • State law enforcement will support the 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign starting Dec. 10 through Jan. 1 to help reduce holiday impaired driving after record incidents last season. Gov. Beshear urged drivers to plan safe rides – use rideshares, call a friend, or choose public transport.  92.7 The Wave

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local health experts report a rise in seasonal influenza that includes the new H3N2 subclade K and causes severe flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, muscle pain, and fatigue. They advise residents to get vaccinated soon & practice good hygiene to help protect against the flu.  LEX 18

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kentucky Football coach Will Stein signed a five-year, $28.5 million contract through Jan. 2031 with a starting pay of $5.5 million, while former coach Mark Stoops will receive a severance package of $37,687,500 paid until April 2031.  WKYT
  • Franklin County freshman Mary Clayton Rodgers was named Player of the Year for the 14-18 girls division by the Kentucky Junior Golf Association on Friday at Golf House in Louisville, after eight top-10 finishes and two wins helped her earn a second honor with the Lady Flyers.  The State Journal
  • Franklin County’s boys basketball team beat Pineville with a score of 62 to 49 in Saturday's Jersey Mike's Subs Hoops Classic at Great Crossing. The Flyers will play at Madison Southern on Thursday and host the Gary Moore Classic against Fairdale on Saturday.  The State Journal
  • Franklin County Flyers competed in the Class 4A championship game at UK’s Kroger Field Friday night — Boyle County prevailed with a 34-0 win.  The State Journal
