  • April F.   • The Salvation Army of Franklin and Anderson Counties is making a final push to assist families by keeping its Red Kettles at retail spots until Christmas Eve and calling for volunteer bellringers.   • During the holiday season, Frankfort residents are urged to use official websites for package tracking after cybercriminals surge fake delivery notifications with harmful links; NordVPN reports fake USPS websites up 850% and DHL sites up 206% (prompting caution among local consumers).  Kentucky Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky saw a 22.8% rise in health-related degree enrollment, with 6,953 more students joining and a 32.1% boost among Appalachian students (data from the CPE released Tuesday) that supports easing local healthcare shortages.  Kentucky Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Frankfort Parks and Recreation Department received the Outstanding Department Class 3 Award from the Kentucky Recreation and Park Society last month at General Butler State Resort Park+city officials praised the hardworking team at Monday’s Board meeting for enhancing local parks and quality of life.  The State Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Franklin County's boys basketball team will host the Gary Moore Classic on Saturday in a tournament featuring an alumni game (3 p.m.), a junior varsity match (4 p.m.), and the Flyer versus Fairdale varsity game (6 p.m.); admission is $10 with a $2 discount for LIFE House for Animals donations.  The State Journal
  • Franklin County's Shalom Moore finished his high school football career Friday in the 4A state championship game with nine tackles and three receptions in a loss to Boyle County. Named Traditional Bank Athlete of the Week, he said he will play college football.  The State Journal
