  • Rev. Ron Moore Jr of First Corinthian Baptist Church in Frankfort explained that the Christmas Spirit lifts the community by inspiring giving and kindness, a reminder of the true meaning of Jesus’ birth.  The State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Hills' sophomore Aidan Davis was named WesBanco Student of the Week after his photograph of a steam locomotive was selected for the UC Blue Ash High School Regional Photography Exhibition (Nov. 17-Dec. 12) at the UC Blue Ash Art Gallery. He submitted his photo from Chickamauga, Georgia.  The State Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky Fish & Wildlife reported that barn owl numbers are trending upward after a 15-year decline; officials will survey the population in 2026 and use nesting boxes to provide safe nesting sites in local grasslands.  LEX 18

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The DEA announced yesterday its intent to classify bromazolam as a Schedule I drug (after Attorney General Coleman urged a state ban following 48 overdose deaths) so that local law enforcement in Frankfort and across Kentucky can better curb its dangerous use.  Kentucky Today

  • Western Hills' Lady Wolverines lost 64-57 to Madison Southern on Thursday at WHHS as Malia Campbell posted 14+10 and Aubrey Perkins recorded 10+10 in double-doubles; the team plays today at the Central Bank Jim Rose Classic against East Jessamine.  The State Journal
