- ➤ Everett McCorvey of the University of Kentucky will lead American Spiritual Ensemble (ASE) to close the 2025-26 season with a performance at the Grand Theatre on Friday, Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m., celebrating the ensemble’s mission to preserve American negro spirituals. The State Journal

- ➤ Franklin County High School students (picked from 1,500 auditions) earned placements into ensembles (including five for the ACDA Southern Division Honor Choirs in March in Memphis) and the All-State Junior High Honor Choir, Senior High Choirs and Jazz Band. - ➤ The PSC accepted Duke Energy’s settlement in its general rate adjustment for the Northern Kentucky service area — the order increased annual revenues by 9.61% and raised the monthly residential charge from $17.50 to $20.00 after a settlement on Oct. 20 and a hearing on Oct. 28. Kentucky Today
- ➤ Governor Andy Beshear discussed his family's holiday routines during an interview in Frankfort. He said first lady Britainy Beshear handles most Christmas shopping while his teens lead community roles (adding humor over last-minute Walmart trips) and praised locals for their warm spirit this season. - ➤ University of Kentucky experts reported a 15% rise in flu-A cases since Dec. 13 and warned that peak flu season is still ahead — residents are urged to wash hands and get their flu shots as holiday gatherings continue, while hospitalizations reached 10 flu cases. LEX 18
