  • Roni Robinson was named Newsmaker of the Year for organizing flood relief after historic rains in April. He founded Bridging the Gap & worked with local schools, businesses, and health officials to deliver food, supplies, and care for flood survivors while planning future community events.  The State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Rep. Chris Lewis will propose a robotics program trust fund in the 2026 session to help high school programs gain hands-on experience with robotics and advanced manufacturing. The measure, planned in the 2026 General Assembly in Frankfort, aims to bring together state appropriations, grants, and other funds to boost technical skills.  Kentucky Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • The CDC and FDA are investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to raw oysters after one case was reported in Kentucky among 64 nationwide. Officials advise cooking oysters to prevent illness and are working to identify the common source (for safe seafood practices).  Kentucky Today
  • Kentucky Blood Center reports a critical shortage with less than a half-day supply of key blood types and urges local donors to donate by Tuesday to support over 70 hospitals, offering free movie tickets at centers and a hoodie at mobile drives—vital for emergency care.  WTVQ
  • Gov. Andy Beshear announced Monday that the Rural Health Transformation Plan secured $212.9 million for rural health care, with funds administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services. The money will support rural communities over five years.  WTVQ
