- ➤ Frankfort preservation officer Vicki Birenberg detailed plans to launch the Frankfort Historic Investment Program later this year to fund local historic property renovations, along with updated zoning guidelines that support preservation (including efforts from the African American Historic Context Report). - ➤ Dr. Jessica Kress will host the Commonwealth Smiles Free Community Egg Hunt for local families, offering a free activity to celebrate community spirit. The event will take place in Frankfort later this spring, and details on time and venue will be announced soon. WKYT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new report (the 31st in an in-depth series) details historic Black neighborhoods in Frankfort, including Pawpaw Chute and Green Hill, where most homes were demolished in the 1950s for larger white residences and green space near the Governor's Mansion. - ➤ The Kentucky House passed HB 904 on Thursday to set clear rules for charitable gaming and raise the betting age to 21 for sports and horse racing; the bill now heads to the Senate as non-profit leaders say the changes will help local organizations serve the community. WKYT
