Attorney General Russell Coleman announced that a court has ordered Lexington Blue to halt operations and freeze accounts while his office investigates alleged unlawful business activity involving $4.8M from over 300 projects (including over 70 consumer complaints) (aimed at curbing predatory practices).

The Chamber of Commerce released a study showing that Kentucky ranked 45th for wealth nationwide (tied with West Virginia) due to low incomes and high poverty rates; the research used six economic measures and found most of the country's poorest states are in the South.

The findings highlight significant wealth disparities among states.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources announced that fishing licenses will be free this weekend—June 7-8 so that local families can enjoy fishing on public waters.

The free license does not allow fishing on private property and requires all anglers to follow state limits on catches and sizes.

FEMA has opened over 30 disaster recovery centers statewide to help Kentuckians affected by recent tornadoes and flooding.

Officials said residents should visit a center if they need help and bring a valid photo ID — Social Security card and a utility bill for proof of residence.

Residents in six counties, including Russell, who were hit by severe storms and an EF-4 tornado on May 16 are now eligible for short-term D-SNAP food assistance approved on June 2.

Applications will be accepted from June 5 to June 12 and those needing help can call the Department for Community-Based Services at (1-855-306-8959).

Jennifer Stafford has been appointed as the new associate commissioner of the Office of Assessment and Accountability and will take office on July 1 to replace longtime commissioner Rhonda Sims, who retires on June 30.

Stafford brings over two decades of education experience and will oversee state assessment systems—ensuring fairness and accuracy—and support schools in using data to improve student outcomes.
