The Scott County Fire Department provided additional aid on Sunday night as firefighters rescued kayakers from strong currents near Elkhorn Creek in Franklin County, with Swift-Water Technicians and other agencies helping to secure everyone's safety + one man remains missing after he went underwater while tubing with his family on Saturday.

The 2025 Kids Count Data Book shows Kentucky ranks 36th out of 50 states in factors such as education, health, family, economic well-being and community — with 63% of preschoolers not attending school and many fourth and eighth graders not meeting key skills.

The report also notes small improvements in poverty and teen birth rates.
